We often associate massage with relaxation more than rehabilitation. Whilst massage is ideal for stress management and general relaxation, when you are in the hands of a remedial therapist, massage is a powerful tool that can help your body to recover from illness and injury.
At Catalyst Massage we work closely with Chiropractors to enhance the benefits of massage even further. This Massage / Chiropractic collaboration offers additional value to you.

How long will the benefits last?
This varies depending on the individual, their reason for massage and how long they have had the condition/pain/injury.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A MASSAGE?
Regular massage is advisable for optimal health, your practitioner will discuss your needs during your consultation and assessment.
WILL I GET RELIEF IMMEDIATELY AFTER A MASSAGE?
This depends on the individual and their condition. Some relief will be experienced after the massage however for long term conditions repeat visits may be necessary for lasting results.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INITIAL MASSAGE, STANDARD MASSAGE, AND REASSESSMENT MASSAGE?
Initial Massage - where the assessment and client consultation is followed by the first massage. This allows the therapist to determine the needs of the client and establish the appropriate treatment plan.
Standard Massage – a massage that is a part of the treatment plan.
Reassessment Massage – the therapist revisits the assessment process to verify that the plan is on track by checking for improvement against the set goals.
HOW LONG IS A MASSAGE?
Our initial massage is 40 minutes to allow for the consultation as well as the treatment, this can be increased to 60 minutes if you have a number of concerns to discuss. Your therapist will recommend the best length of massage for you depending on how many areas need treatment.
WHAT TYPES OF THINGS CAN MASSAGE HELP FIX?
CAN I RECEIVE A FIRM/DEEP MASSAGE?
The pressure of the massage is adjusted to suit the individual clients request or needs by using different techniques to achieve different levels of massage (e.g. hands, forearms or elbows).
DO I HAVE TO TAKE MY CLOTHES OFF?
No, myofascial trigger points can be performed over your clothing however, for the best results and to avoid hard clothing digging into your skin (i.e. buttons or bra straps) our therapist will ask you to remove clothing at the affected area to allow for the use of oils and creams throughout your massage.
If you find it more comfortable you can leave your bra on however your therapist will undo or ask you to undo your bra for the massage to be performed.
WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY TO GET A MASSAGE?
There is no time that is better suited for having a massage, we recommend that you have a massage at the time that best suits your own needs.
HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK IF I BOOK MY CHILD IN FOR A MASSAGE?
We ask that a parent or guardian remain in the massage room while the massage is being performed, the rest of the process will remain the same.
CAN I CLAIM THROUGH MY PRIVATE HEALTH FUND?
Yes, check your policy to see if you are covered.
